DATE FOR YOUR DIARY!

We will, once again, be holding our annual Welcome Day in Newton Wallacetown Church, on Wednesday 22nd of October (from 1pm – 3pm).

 Could our Group Leaders please consider taking a table at the Event?   Please let us know via email (office@oirayr.org.uk)

 Also we encourage our Members to come along to the Event and bring a friend who is not an OiR Member to let them see what we can offer,  chat with Groups, Committee Members and Office staff. The Office staff will be there to enable existing members to renew their Membership for 2026 and of course, to accept new members.  Refreshments will also be available on the day.

PLEA TO GROUP LEADERS:

Could Group Leaders please notify their venue and the office giving their proposed start date for after the summer recess.  If you know your stop date in December, please also let us know.  Many thanks.

OUTLOOK – SUMMER EDITION:

Our Summer 2025 Edition of Outlook will be posted on the web during August.  Please do have a look at your magazine and we encourage both Group Leaders and members to provide material for inclusion in our next Outlook, which will be published beginning December. Any material would be gratefully accepted by the office – office@oirayr.org.uk.

OFFICE UPDATE:

Unfortunately, our office remains temporarily closed due to the flood damage. We continue to operate two ‘pop up’ offices on Tuesdays 10am-12.45 at Prestwick Community Centre and on Thursdays from 10am – 11.45 at Newton Wallacetown Church. You can contact us by emailing: office@oirayr.org.uk

We hope to have some positive news about moving back to the office for you all in your September News Email!

ART CLASS : THE AULD KIRK, MONDAYS, 10am-12noon

This Monday Art Group have a few spaces. They are a non-teaching, very friendly and sociable Group and you would be made very welcome if you care to go along and join them. LOCAL BIRD WATCHING GROUP:

The Bird Watching Group can take a few more members.  They meet on Mondays – once a fortnight – at 11am at various places in Ayr and Prestwick.  For more information, please email Alice Bates – 46alice46@gmail.com

THE WAVERLEY

On Tuesday 4th February, at Ayr Town Hall Meeting, Paul Semple, General Manager of the Waverley gave a most enjoyable presentation on the paddle steamer, The Waverley.  He hopes that some OiR Members will now consider going for a ‘paddle’ during the summer months.  The Ayr dates are – 7th, 8th 9th, 27th, 28th, 29th July.  August dates are – 4th, 12th, and 25th.

PHILISOPHY (OVER  A DRINK) – ALTERNATE MONDAYS, AYRSHIRE HOUSING OFFICE:

Our Philosophy Group has been led since its inception by Denis Rattenbury.  Owing to other commitments, Denis now has to give up his Leadership duties when the Group close for summer recess.  We are looking for another OiR Member to volunteer to this position.  The Group is healthy in numbers and we would hope that it continues on after the summer recess.  If you are interested in helping out with this please get in touch with the office in the first instance – office@oirayr.org.uk – and we will put you directly in touch with Denis.

OUTLOOK AUGUST EDITION:

We are now preparing for your August Edition of Outlook.  Please, if you have any Group News or anything else appropriate that you wish to include send directly to the office – office@oirayr.org.uk.  Our deadline for receipt of material is 30th June 2025. We very much appreciate the time spent by both members and Group Leaders in providing content to the office for Outlook.

OIR CHOIR – TUESDAY MORNINGS, NEWTON WALLACETOWN CHURCH:

Our lovely Choir Leader Lisa is having to give up her Leadership due to relocating.  Her sessions with OiR will finish at the summer recess.    We are looking for a new leader for this Group with piano playing skills.  This is a large Group and we do hope to be able to keep it running.  Please contact the office if you feel you could help – office@oirayr.org.uk,  in the first instance.
