Day & Time Alternate Fridays 10.00 am Continuous

This group walks on alternate Fridays all the year round. Travel is normally by public transport
(bus or train) so the normal meeting place is Ayr Bus or Railway Station. Emails are circulated
approximately five days prior to the walk and again the evening before if the walk has to be
cancelled.

The walks are normally between three to five miles and are considered “easy” although some
could have uphill sections which which are taken at a slow pace. Boots are recommended for all
walks, especially in winter but are not always necessary for walks on good surfaces. In winter,
warm and waterproof clothing is required. In summer, protection from the sun is recommended.
Plenty of water should be carried at all times and this group always goes into a Cafe for lunch.

The walk on May 3rd will be around Ayr. Meet at the Cutty Sark Centre at the lower end of Ayr High Street at 10:30am. The lunch venue will be decided on the day. Boots are not required.

On February 9th, the group walked along the promenade, past Greenan Castle and up to the Robert Burns Museum for lunch.

The group walked in Caprington, Kilmarnock on November 17th. The weather was cold but dry. Thanks to Alice for leading the walk

The group went to Paisley on September 8th. We did a walk around the town viewing the murals and also went in the Abbey. Marjorie is holding a Certificate, on behalf of the group, for finding the six mice. Unfortunately, the magnificent Thomas Coats Memorial Church was closed. The Museum is being refurbished and will open next year.
